There’s nothing more frustrating than arriving at your new home only to find your furniture dented or scratched, and valuable items broken. When packing a moving truck, especially with household goods, there is a way to do it that will safely move your items from one place to another. Valuables
For your most valuable possessions, like photos, important documents, fragile items, and more, we suggest you keep them in the cab of the truck with you. This will ensure they are not accidentally broken by large boxes falling on them or crushing them.
Appliances & Heavy Objects
If you are moving appliances like a refrigerator, washer/dryer, or freezer, these items need to be placed in the front of the moving truck rental, at the top of the “I formation.” Once you have these heavy objects loaded, you can then pack other heavy items like dressers and your dining room table in the middle of the truck. Any heavy boxes can be packed under these items in order to maximize the space available.
Bedroom & Living Room Furniture
Next, you’ll want to load heavy bedroom items such as mattresses and box springs along the left side of the moving truck. On the right side, load in your couches, recliners, and any other awkward, heavy items.
Large & Small Boxes
Now that you have the large, heavy furniture and appliances loaded, you can begin to add any boxes you have. Heavier boxes can be packed into the back of the truck, directly in the center. This will complete the “I formation.” Next, smaller boxes and miscellaneous items can be packed in and around the other boxes and furniture.
